The Story Behind “Hope” 🐮🤍

Hope didn’t begin as a big idea.
She started with a simple request.
My brother asked if I could make a crochet plushie as a gift for a friend from church. He told me she loved highland cows… and her favourite colour was blue.

So he asked for something specific: a little cow, with white and blue overalls.
Creating Her
At the time, I was still using patterns I had bought - one of those fruit cow designs I used to make.
I followed the pattern for the cow itself, and then made the overalls from scratch to match what he had imagined.
It was simple. Just a thoughtful, handmade gift. And in a way… it was also my first little “order.” He paid me in yarn. Which, honestly, felt just as special.
The First Little Shift
Because she was a gift for someone from church, I had the idea to add a small, faith-based birthday note. Just something simple to go alongside it.
But as I started writing…the note became something more.
It turned into a little character card.
And then that became a poem.
Where It All Began
Without really planning it, that one small addition changed everything.
What started as: a plushie + a note
became: a character + a story + a meaning
And that was the beginning of the first gift set.
Looking Back
At the time, I didn’t think of it as the start of anything.
It was just: a gift, a moment, a small act of care.
But now, looking back, I can see it clearly.
That was where the idea was born.

What Hope Means Now
Hope isn’t perfect. She wasn’t part of a big collection. She wasn’t planned.
But she was the first piece that carried something deeper.
A little story. A little message. A little reminder of faith.
And maybe that’s why she still matters so much.
Because she reminds me that something meaningful doesn’t always begin with a big vision.
Sometimes it begins quietly…with one small, thoughtful gift <3
