Magic Ring (mr)
Working the Stitch:
Make a loop with the yarn
Insert the hook into the loop
Yarn over and pull up a loop
Chain 1 (optional depending on pattern)
Work stitches into the ring
Pull the tail tightly to close
What is it used for?
A magic ring (also known as a magic ‘circle’) creates a tightly closed centre, perfect for plushies and circular crochet projects.
Tip:
This stitch can feel tricky at first - most beginners need practice and that’s completely normal. If you are struggling, you can also use the ‘chain 2’ trick where you chain 2 and use the first chain as the ring.
