Decrease (dec)
Working the Stitch:
Insert hook into the first stitch
Pull up a loop
Insert hook into the next stitch
Pull up another loop
Yarn over and pull through all loops
What is it used for?
Decreases reduce stitch count and help shape plushies or curved projects.
Tip:
Decreases are usually made using the same stitch you are already working with (unless stated otherwise).
If your pattern is using single crochet (sc), you will make a single crochet decrease (dec). If using half double crochet (hdc), you will make a half double crochet decrease, and so on.
